SUMMARY:
The Baltimore Orioles are seeking enthusiastic and technically skilled individuals to join our Event Presentation team as Technical Control Room Operators. This role is responsible for executing high-quality in-game entertainment elements during home games at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Operators will support live video production including camera operation, replay, graphics, video playback, and other control room functions to deliver an exceptional fan experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate technical equipment in the Orioles control room during home games and special events, including:
- Cameras (e.g., Grass Valley or Sony) – Capture crowd shots, in-game promotions, and game action for use on videoboard and replay.
- Replay Systems (Evertz Dreamcatcher) – Build clip reels, game highlights, and melt reels using tools such as DreamCatcher or equivalent.
- Graphics Systems (e.g., Chyron or Xpression) – Display real-time player stats, sponsor graphics, and fan engagement content.
- Video Playback Systems (e.g., Click FX or Ross) – Operate playback software and hardware to cue animations, hype videos, and sponsorship content.
- Video Shading/Remote Cams – Adjust camera lighting and manage remote-controlled cameras as needed.
- LED Ribbon Systems (e.g., Daktronics or Ross) – Ensure accurate and timely display of captions for in-game dialogue and announcements.
- Logging – Tag and catalog video content for archival purposes and future use.
- Social Media Integration (e.g., TagBoard, Cue, or Vixi) – Support the live integration of fan content and team updates.
- Execute all tasks in a fast-paced, live-event environment while maintaining high standards of quality and timing.
- Collaborate with production and creative staff to enhance the overall in-park entertainment experience.
- Take direction from the Event Presentation Tech Manager and Senior Director of Event Presentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the game day presentation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in video production, broadcasting, media studies or related field preferred; or equivalent work experience in live event or sports production.
- Prior experience operating control room equipment at a sports venue, television station, or entertainment venue.
- Strong working knowledge of baseball and an understanding of how to visually enhance the in-game experience.
- Technically proficient with replay systems, broadcast graphics, camera operation, and video routing.
- Ability to take initiative, troubleshoot on the fly, and maintain focus in a high-pressure environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and available to work Orioles home games—including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
