Position Overview: Baltimore County seeks a talented, forward thinking and collaborative professional to serve as Immigration Affairs Outreach Coordinator in the Office of Community Engagement. The Immigration Affairs Outreach Coordinator will partner with community stakeholders including non-profits, businesses, houses of worship, neighborhood associations, advocacy organizations and residents, to build and strengthen relationships, share information, solve problems, and increase awareness about County initiatives and services.
Office of Community and Engagement: The Office of Community Engagement builds and strengthens relationships between Baltimore County Executive Kathy Klausmeier and local non-profits, businesses, houses of worship, neighborhood associations, advocacy organizations, and residents. The Office organizes the County Executive’s annual town hall series, represents the County Executive at community meetings and events, conducts proactive outreach, convenes stakeholder roundtables, manages special events, and resolves complex constituent service requests.
Essential Functions
- Partners with stakeholders to develop and implement a plan to promote community wellbeing, economic development and the integration of immigrant communities in Baltimore County.
- Develops public-private partnerships to strengthen the development of immigrant communities.
- Develops and maintains an inventory of County services most relevant to immigrant communities.
- Develops and maintains relationships with immigrant-serving stakeholders, coordinates the County Executive’s Office engagement with immigrant communities, and tracks outreach outcomes, providing quarterly reports to leadership.
- Designs programs to educate immigrant communities about engaging with County government.
- Assists with resolving complex constituent service requests.
- Increases awareness and responsiveness to immigrant communities within County government departments and offices.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Professional experience managing social media and digital outreach campaigns, including content creation and use of analytics to measure engagement.
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent professional demeanor.
- Ability to demonstrate fundamentals of effective strategies to establish realistic objectives, maintain momentum, evaluate progress, and prepare and present reports of work accomplished.
- Strong understanding of the role of community groups and the needs of diverse, multicultural populations.
- Willingness to be flexible, working late evenings and weekends as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to promote cultural competency and work across multicultural populations.
- Familiar with Microsoft suite.
- Demonstrated skills in cross-cultural mediation and conflict resolution.
- Fluency in Spanish required, knowledge of additional languages a plus.
Education and Training
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Political Science, International Relations, Social Work, Communications, or a closely related field. Equivalent professional experience may include three or more years in community engagement, immigrant advocacy, multicultural program coordination, or a related field. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within Baltimore County as needed.
