Regular Schedule: 34 hours per week.

A non-merit vacancy exists in the Bureau of Behavioral Health, Department of Health and Human Services.

Non-Merit positions are not classified within the Baltimore County Government Classification and Compensation Plan.

Under general supervision, this position’s primary responsibilities are to:

Examples Of Essential Duties

  • Provide peer support to individuals with substance use and co-occurring behavioral health concerns
  • Meet with program participants to provide peer mentoring, linkages to resources, and facilitation of contacts with the recovery community
  • Create participant-driven wellness plans designed to address the barriers to wellness, including; stigma, transportation, basic needs, housing and others as defined by the participant
  • Provides outreach to the community and distributes literature, brochures, and other related materials in an effort to educate the general public to promote the programs and to reduce stigma
  • Consistently document all participant encounters and outreach efforts
  • Participate in, and contributes to, team meetings, providing constructive feedback to support the participants, the peer team and the peer programs

Required Qualifications

Possession of a high school diploma or appropriate equivalent

plus

Current Maryland Certified Peer Recovery Specialist or ability to obtain CPRS within one year of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and person-centered approaches
  • Experience working in a healthcare, behavioral health, or harm reduction setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of local recovery resources and services
  • Ability to work with diverse populations in a non-judgmental and supportive manner

Licenses and Certificates

Proof of Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist and Registered Peer Supervisor for those already certified, or the ability to acquire CPRS within one year of hire is required at the time of application.

Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a non-commercial, class C Maryland driver license is required at the time of application.

Proof of Certifications
