Job Description
DEFINITION: Provide expertise, service, support, and supervision in the delivery of instruction and support services to Baltimore County Public School (BCPS) students on Home and Hospital. Perform other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Plans and assists in the development, evaluation, and revision of the Home and Hospital program to meet the system-wide goals in support of the system-wide strategic plan.
Collaborates and coordinates with the curriculum offices to integrate appropriate contextual learning experiences into the Home and Hospital program.
Collaborates with staff in the Division of Curriculum & Instruction and the Department of Employee Training & Development, to provide teacher training and seamless course transitions.
Provides direction and recommendations for students receiving Home and Hospital services to school-based administrators, staff, and parents.
Manages and monitors the provision of services to students at Baltimore County participating hospitals and/or programs.
Provides for the selection, assignment, professional development, supervision and evaluation of teachers and tutor staff.
Develops policies and procedures for BCPS Home and Hospital program specified by Code of Maryland Regulations.
Collaborates with the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and other local school systems regarding the provision of Home and Hospital services.
Provides for the evaluation and purchase of materials of instruction and equipment.
Implements special education policies and procedures as they relate to state and federal regulations.
Provides for use of technology to facilitate instruction.
Implements high school assessment requirements, SAT instruction, and course requirements in appropriate progression.
Works collaboratively with parents and community for the support of student achievement.
Develops and provides professional development in collaboration with Department of Special Education, and Office of Student Support Services to ensure proper implementation of Home and Hospital policies and procedures.
Assists in the development and administration of operating, capital, and other budgets, and monitors business operations to ensure the efficient and effective use of resources.
Assists in the Plans, budgets, and controls department expenditures and grants.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training, And Experience
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree. Five years’ teaching experience with progressively responsible leadership experience.
Licenses And Certificates
Possession of a Maryland Educator Advanced Professional Certificate in an area appropriate to the assignment with an Administrator I or Supervisors of Instruction, Assistant Principals, and Principal endorsement.
OR
Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Educator Advanced Professional License in an area appropriate to the assignment and Administrator I or Supervisors of Instruction, Assistant Principals, and Principal endorsement.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of the principles and practices of public education. Knowledge of alternative education. Knowledge of special education. Knowledge and skill in computer/educational technology, preferably distance learning. Technology competency. Knowledge of and skill in the use of database, internet, spreadsheet, word processing, and related applications. Knowledge of and skill in data analysis.
Skill in teaching. Demonstration of outstanding oral and written communication skills. Demonstration of strong leadership, management and human relations skills.
Physical And Environmental Conditions
The work of this class is generally sedentary and performed in an office environment. Work includes the operation of office equipment, including personal computers, and occasional limited physical activities.
