The H igh S chool E nglish L anguage D evelopment Teacher plans and implements an instructional program for multilingual students and provides related educational services for students in grades 9 through 12. The High School English Language Development Teacher also works in collaboration with a national teacher preparation program to provide support to teacher interns in the program .

Essential Functions

  • Serve as teacher of record for the classroom.
  • Follows suggested district curricula for summer programs.
  • Attends summer staff faculty meetings once a week.
  • Works in collaboration with teacher interns and provides feedback and support to interns.
  • Incorporate small group and individual instructions and tailor instruction to individual needs.
  • Responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering in-person instruction.?
  • Monitor and analyze student assessment data to determine instructional needs.
  • Maintains confidential and sensitive information.
  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board policies, administrative regulations, and professional standards.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Desired Qualifications

  • Holds unexpired MSDE educator licensure/ certification in ESOL.
  • Employee of Baltimore City Public Schools for the 2025-2026 school year, with the intention to remain an employee for the 2026-2027 school year.
  • Knowledge of federal laws protecting educational services for students with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of instructional specialty to which assigned.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication in English.
  • Excellent oral and written communications and human relations skills.
  • Ability to select instructional planning, management, and evaluation procedures that relate to student needs and the demands of the instructional environment.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program.
  • Excellent?oral and?written communications and human relations skills.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Proficient in the use of technical computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Possession of all appropriate licenses, certificates, and contracts for the 2026-2027 school year (non-renewals, expiring certifications, separations including retirees will not be considered for summer school employment).
  • Acceptable annual rating by school principal/administrator
  • Unless expressly stated otherwise with respect to the qualifications indicated in the position description, City Schools reserves the right to consider other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position.
