Sheet Metal Materials Kitting Technician

Be the go-to expert who ensures the right steel is in the right place at the right time—safely, accurately, and efficiently.

• Operate Hubtex Side Loader and Vacuum Assist Lift to transport, store, rotate, and deliver materials.
• Review production schedules; proactively stage and kit sheet steel and related materials to hit takt time goals.
• Receive, store, kit, and deliver materials to fabrication work centers with precision.
• Interpret fabrication sheets, cut plans, nesting drawings, and production schedules to execute kits correctly.
• Maintain inventory accuracy with transactions, cycle counts, and verification activities.
• Capture, identify, and record reusable scrap and drops to improve material utilization.
• Retrieve materials from storage and yard locations per schedule.
• Perform daily equipment inspections; report maintenance concerns promptly.
• Troubleshoot when machinery performance drifts; identify issues and adjust.
• Resolve routine shortages and delivery issues to minimize production interruptions.
• Communicate clearly with Team Leaders, Station Leaders, Material Coordinators, Supervisors, and production employees.
• Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures; support departmental performance targets.
• Assist in training less experienced operators.
• Execute against standard processes and KPIs in BAC Excellence (BAC-X), including Global Assembly Standardization (GAS) Expectations.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested by leadership.

• Understand internal customers—upstream and downstream stations—and the finished goods customer; appreciate how quality and on-time delivery impact their success.
• Use sound methods and interpersonal skills to inspire and motivate teammates.

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year in manufacturing, fabrication, warehousing, material handling, or similar industrial roles preferred.
• Experience with powered industrial equipment preferred; Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
• Proven ability to operate a Hubtex Side Loader and related material handling equipment safely.
• Knowledge of fabrication processes, material flow, and production support.
• Ability to read/interpret fabrication paperwork, cut plans, nesting layouts, and work instructions.
• Familiarity with inventory control, part numbering, material tracking, and inventory/production systems.
• Skill with measuring tools including tape measures and gauges.
• Strong organizational, analytical, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
• Flexible, self‑motivated, and responsive in a fast‑paced environment; able to understand and act on job schedules.
• Open to working any shift as needed to support business requirements.
