Balluff is growing, and we’re looking for motivated individuals to join our Sales Trainee Engagement Program (STEP) — a six-month, paid training program designed to prepare you for a full-time Sales Engineer role.
What makes this role different?
You’re not expected to “figure it out” on your own. We invest in your development from day one — with structured training, real-world experience, and a clear path to a field sales role.
What to Expect
This is a 6-month, paid rotational program where you’ll build the technical and sales foundation needed to succeed.
- Starting salary: $67,000 during training
- Salary increase upon promotion to Sales Engineer after successful completion
- Company vehicle provided once you transition into your territory
During the program, you will:
- Rotate through core functions including Technical Customer Support, Sales Support, and Operations
- Learn how our products work by solving real customer applications
- Participate in structured product and sales training
- Gain experience with internal systems, customer communication, and demo tools
- Travel with and shadow experienced Sales Engineers
- Begin developing customer relationships through virtual sales activities
Your Career Path
After completing the STEP program, you will transition into a Sales Engineer role supporting the Minneapolis territory, where you will:
- Manage and grow customer relationships

Qualifications:Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a technical discipline
- Up to 1–2 years of post-education experience
- Technical aptitude with a willingness to learn Balluff products and systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and virtual meeting platforms
- Ability and willingness to relocate twice:
- First, to Florence, KY / Cincinnati, OH area for training
- Then, to your assigned sales territory (Minneapolis) upon program completion
