This is a hybrid position that requires working three days per week in the office and two days per week from home.

Summary
Balfour Beatty is seeking a Leave of Absence Specialist to join our benefits team in Dallas, TX. The Leave of Absence Specialist will partner with employees, managers, and HR to coordinate the employee leave life cycle across all three of Balfour Beatty’s United States business units. Essential Functions
Leave of Absence Administration: Coordinate the full-cycle process of LOA (FMLA, STD, PPL, LTD, Statutory) – 95%
- Compliance
- Ensure employees are made aware of their rights, any Balfour policies, as well as any statutory plans they may be entitled to
- Create and maintain employee LOA files
- Employee Support
- Provide and explain information to employees and help them with the process of leave management under Balfour’s policies and procedures
- Maintain communications with employee during the LOA timeframe
- Policy Management
- Prepare a weekly spreadsheet for payroll for all LOA employees
- Participate and engage in vendor calls to discuss LOA cases and any concerns.
- Return to Work Coordination
- Coordinate return to work process for employees including ensuring that a RTW note is received
- Notify manager, HR and payroll that employee is returning
- If employee has any restrictions, coordinate providing that information to manager and HR to review.
- Attend to general benefit inquiry emails when other team members are out
- Answer department voice mail messages that are leave related
- Assist department and employees before, during, and immediately after annual open enrolment (to include testing of benefit portal, proofreading updated guides and communications, educating employees on benefit choices and enrolment process)
- 2-5 years of direct experience in leave management and benefits
- Working knowledge of leave laws related to FMLA and other disability insurance processes.
- Experience working for a company with 7,000 employees
- PHR or SHRM-CP
- Associate’s degree in human resources, business, or related field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Patience and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Detail oriented as it related to documentation and following standard operating procedure/ legal compliance
- Empathetic and supportive
- Hybrid role (three days per week in the office and two days per week remote) involving a desk setting and a high volume of time spent on the phone and/or on Microsoft Teams talking to employees.
