Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services and assigned Coordinator, plan, develop, and deliver lessons to instruct and assess students in Mental and Behavioral Health career pathway classes as part of a sequenced program of study. Operate and maintain computers and technical equipment, promote safety and career-ready practices, and prepare students for post-secondary success. Classes will incorporate collaborative problem-solving to apply knowledge and skills to real-world challenges. The instructor will also teach workplace skills, present opportunities related to careers in mental and behavioral health, and help students prepare for industry certifications, internships, college, and careers.

EXPERIENCE: • Three (3) years of work experience in the technical skills, trade, or vocations to be taught (Mental or Behavioral Health or related field) are required. • One (1) of the three (3) years of the required experience must be within the last five (5) years or two (2) years within the last ten (10) years. EDUCATION: • High school diploma or equivalent required. • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college/university is desired. CREDENTIALS/CERTIFICATES/LICENSES: Possession of, or ability to obtain prior to employment, a valid California Designated Subjects Career Technical Education Teaching or Vocational Credential for the subject to be taught is required. (Refer to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing website at www.ctc.ca.gov for Designated Subjects Career Technical Education Teaching Credentials). (You must apply for annual waiver while completing University credentialing program of study until CTEL certification or EL equivalent is obtained through clear credential.) You must provide copies of credentials as required for the position or provide evidence of qualifying for required credential with your application materials.
