Warehouse Helper – Pierless Fish (Brooklyn, NY)

Position Summary
Pierless Fish, part of Baldor Specialty Foods, is seeking a Sanitor I to help maintain clean and sanitary warehouse and seafood processing areas at our Brooklyn location. This entry-level role supports food safety and daily operations by following established cleaning procedures and workplace safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize processing equipment, floors, walls, racks, docks, and work areas.
• Follow sanitation schedules, standard operating procedures (SOPs), sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOPs), and food safety requirements.
• Handle and prepare cleaning chemicals safely, following training and company procedures.
• Use approved cleaning equipment, including scrubbers, power washers, hoses, vacuums, and other tools.
• Complete sanitation logs and cleaning checklists accurately and on time.
• Remove trash, debris, spills, and other waste to keep the facility clean and organized.
• Follow good manufacturing practices (GMP), hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP) procedures, and applicable food safety requirements.
• Report sanitation concerns, equipment issues, and safety hazards to leadership.
• Store and maintain cleaning tools, equipment, and supplies properly.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow workplace safety procedures.
• Help prepare the facility for audits and inspections.
• Work with operations, quality, and warehouse teams to maintain sanitation standards.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Sanitation, warehouse, janitorial, or food production experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse or seafood processing environment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work well with a team.
• Willingness to learn sanitation procedures, safe chemical handling, and food safety standards.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, push, and pull for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move cleaning equipment, supplies, and materials within company guidelines, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to work in refrigerated, freezer, wet, humid, or varying temperature conditions.
• Ability to use sanitation equipment and cleaning chemicals safely after training.

Work Environment
This position is based at Pierless Fish in Brooklyn, NY. Work takes place in seafood processing, warehouse, and distribution areas that may be refrigerated, wet, and fast-paced. Employees may be exposed to cleaning chemicals, moving equipment, varying temperatures, and moderate to loud noise.

Requirements & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5–10 years of progressive HR experience, including experience as an HR Business Partner or HR leader supporting corporate or professional functions.
• Demonstrated experience supporting multiple functional groups simultaneously (e.g., Sales, Finance, Operations, Technology).
• Demonstrated expertise in job reorganization, organizational design, and job leveling.
• Advanced employee relations experience, including investigations and high-risk matters.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to influence at the senior leadership level.
• Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced environment.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred for workforce support.
• SHRM certification a plus.
