Position Summary:

The Inventory Control  (IC) Specialist is responsible for supporting warehouse operations by maintaining inventory accuracy and product quality standards through secondary audits, discrepancy investigations, and product reviews. This role serves as a key partner to Inventory Control and Quality Control teams by reviewing audit findings, validating counts and product conditions, conducting investigations, and ensuring inventory and product quality records remain accurate within warehouse systems.

The IC Specialist collaborates closely with Operations, Sales, Procurement, Inventory Control, and Quality Control teams to resolve inventory variances, product quality concerns, and operational discrepancies while supporting food safety, inventory integrity, and overall operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

·         Serve as a secondary auditor supporting Inventory Control and Quality Control processes.

·         Review and follow up on findings identified through inventory audits, quality audits, and operational reviews.

·         Conduct investigations involving inventory variances, product quality concerns, and operational discrepancies.

·         Perform inventory validations, count rechecks, and product inspections to ensure compliance with company standards.

·         Utilize handheld devices, RF scanners, warehouse management systems (WMS), and operational reports to review, document, and validate findings.

·         Research inventory discrepancies and product quality issues to identify root causes and corrective actions.

·         Evaluate product condition, freshness, grade, packaging integrity, and compliance with established quality standards.

·         Maintain accurate documentation related to audits, investigations, inventory adjustments, quality reviews, and corrective actions.

·         Communicate findings, recommendations, and corrective actions with Operations, Sales, Procurement, Inventory Control, Quality Control, and leadership teams.

·         Support product disposition decisions including salvage, donation, return, disposal, or additional review in accordance with company procedures.

·         Identify trends and opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, product quality, and operational processes.

·         Support compliance with GMP, HACCP, food safety, sanitation, USDA, and workplace safety requirements.

·         Participate in internal audits, operational reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory integrity and product quality.

 

Qualifications:

·         Prior inventory control, quality control, warehouse, food distribution, logistics, or auditing experience preferred.

·         Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS), RF scanners, handheld devices, or inventory management tools preferred.

·         Basic computer and data entry skills required.

·         Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

·         Ability to identify, investigate, and resolve inventory and product quality discrepancies.

·         Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

·         Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

 

Physical Requirements:

·         Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout warehouse operational areas for extended periods of time.

·         Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment for extended periods of time.

·         Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull products and materials within company-established guidelines, with or without reasonable accommodation.

·         Ability to work in refrigerated, freezer, wet, or varying warehouse temperature environments.

·         Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with workplace safety requirements.

·         Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

Work Environment:

This position operates within warehouse, production, and distribution environments that may include refrigerated, freezer, wet, and fast-paced operational conditions. Associates may be exposed to moving equipment, varying temperatures, and moderate to loud noise levels.
