What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tasting Room Supervisor position at Balanced Rock Winery?
We are looking for a dependable, friendly, and energetic person to join our management team!
Our ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills and enjoy working with the public while possessing the ability to intelligently share information about our wines, encourage sales, and create an unforgettable experience for all guests.
Previous wine knowledge/experience is helpful but NOT required - we'll train you!
Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Maintain a working knowledge of the Tasting Room Menu, Products and Procedures
- Handle general oversight and direction of team members.
- Potentially assist with staff scheduling
- Assist with the Tasting Room’s overall operations and their efficiency
- Assume responsibility for the overall cleanliness of the Tasting Room
- Assign/Delegate tasks as appropriate to staff
- Train/Coach staff on procedures
- Roll out new Initiatives and Procedures to staff
- Ensure Staff completes duties properly
- Make staffing decisions based on Tasting Room traffic
- Balance cash registers at end of the night
- Performing opening/closing duties
- Ensure Tasting Room/Winery is properly secured at end of day.
- Fill in when necessary in Emergency Situations
- Train and staff Kitchen as necessary

- Engage in friendly, courteous customer interactions that exceed customer expectations for the wine tasting experience
- Share general information about our wines and express enthusiasm for them
- Share general tourism information of the surrounding area
- Work quickly, efficiently, and as a team in a fast-paced environment
- Stand for long periods of time
- Multi-task well, and appropriately manage multiple groups of people at the same time
- Lift 50lbs (case of wine)
- Anticipate needs of both guests and tasting room management
- Learn quickly and carry out written and oral instructions
- Work as a part of a team and build relationships
- Have a positive attitude at all times!
Compensation begins at $12 per hour PLUS gratuities, service charges and bonus pay. Annual expected compensation $40-46k annually
