What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Coordinator position at Balanced Body Inc?
Description
Balanced Body is looking for a detail-oriented, high-energy Purchasing Coordinator to join our fast-paced manufacturing team. This is a 100% on-site role at our Sacramento headquarters. You will be the vital link between our suppliers and our shop floor, ensuring our production lines never stop by managing the flow of raw materials and resolving supply chain disruptions in real-time.
The ideal candidate isn’t just an office worker—you are comfortable walking the production floor, working with the manufacturing crew to resolve quality issues, and using Excel to manage complex inventory data.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Production Support: Generate and manage purchase orders for raw materials (wood, steel, hardware), MRO supplies, and specialized components to ensure 100% part availability for our manufacturing lines.
- Issue Resolution: Partner directly with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to investigate supplier non-conformance and resolve part discrepancies immediately.
- Order Management: Actively manage open order reports, track late deliveries, and expedite materials to meet shifting production schedules.
- Data Integrity: Maintain accurate MRP system parameters (lead times, re-order points, and MOQ) and resolve any price or quantity variances with Accounting.
- Inventory Coordination: Monitor inventory levels using Kanban and Blanket order methods to prevent stockouts while minimizing excess.
Requirements
- Manufacturing Exposure: 1–3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or inventory coordination within a manufacturing environment. We are looking for someone who understands the "why" behind the buy.
- Excel Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Excel are required (you should be comfortable with VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and data manipulation).
- ERP/MRP Foundations: Experience using ERP systems to run reports and manage Bill of Materials (BOM). Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or Wrike for task management is a plus.
- Manufacturing Literacy: Ability to read "Where-Used" reports and an interest in how raw materials transform into finished products.
- Communication: Exceptional interactive skills—you must be comfortable talking to both a shop floor lead and an outside vendor in the same hour.
Work Schedule
- Type: Full-time, 100% On-site
- Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
