    PRINCIPAL

    2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR
    Eligibility Pool for Elementary, Jr. High/Middle School

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Valid California administrative services credential

    2. Master’s Degree preferred

    3. Minimum of three years successful site administrative experience or other related experience

    4. Successful teaching or related experience with at-risk students including English Learner and gifted students

    5. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with staff and the public

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

    Ability to:

    6. Work irregular hours/days; including evenings, weekends and holidays, and be on-call for emergencies, travel, work at any employer location or be reassigned

    7. Apply laws, codes, regulations, policies, procedures, collective bargaining agreements, local, state, and federal standards and requirements governing school site operations

    8. Adapt to changing technological systems and computer software

    9. Commit to California Professional Standards for Educational Leaders

    JOB GOAL: To develop and implement a shared vision that promotes equity and excellence by fostering trust, collaboration, and mutual respect among all educational partners. Provide instructional leadership by utilizing data- driven practices, supporting effective Tier 1 instruction, and ensuring curriculum alignment to enhance student outcomes across diverse learning needs. Efficiently manage resources, promote staff professional growth, and cultivate meaningful family and community partnerships to support school goals and student success. Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment while preparing students for college, career, and lifelong achievement through innovative programs and support systems.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Develops and implements a shared vision that ensures equitable access, opportunities, and outcomes for all students

    2. Builds and maintains trust, teamwork, and strong relationships with staff, students, families, and community members

    3. Fosters a school climate grounded in integrity, ethics, and mutual respect

    4. Guides decisions and school activities based on values, mission, vision, and goals of the school and district

    5. Intentionally develops leadership capacity in assistant principals and staff for future leadership roles

    6. Provides instructional leadership through data-driven decision-making, classroom observations, and actionable feedback

    7. Oversees the implementation of Tier 1 instructional programs to meet diverse student needs

    8. Leads staff professional learning and development to improve instructional practices and student outcomes

    9. Guides curriculum and assessment alignment with standards and district expectations

    10. Monitors student performance and uses accountability systems to improve teaching and learning

    11. Monitors academic progress through measurable student outcomes in collaboration with School Leadership Team and School Site Council

    12. Ensures grade level standards and proficiency targets are met at all grade levels

    13. Implements strategies to support English Learner reclassification

    14. Creates a supportive and inclusive environment to address the intellectual, social-emotional, and cultural needs of all students

    15. Assists in the recruitment, selection, and evaluation of certificated and classified staff

    16. Manages fiscal and human resources efficiently to support student learning and operational needs

    17. Oversees budgeting and the allocation of funds for instructional materials and school programs outlined in the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA)

    18. Aligns resources with multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) to promote intervention and acceleration for students

    19. Builds meaningful relationships with families, especially underrepresented communities, to support student success

    20. Organizes family engagement activities, including Parent Cafes, home visits, and other school events

    21. Establishes and leverages community partnerships to meet student needs and enhance college and career readiness

    22. Leads professional learning initiatives for staff aligned with school and district goals

    23. Promotes a culture of continuous learning among staff to drive instructional improvement and leadership growth

    24. Supports teacher collaboration and growth through coaching and mentorship

    25. Ensures a safe, functional, and respectful learning environment for all students and staff as outlined in the School Safety Plan

    26. Leads safety initiatives, campus supervision protocols, and professional development for emergency preparedness

    27. Implements programs and events, such as college and career weeks, to prepare students for postsecondary success

    28. Models personal and professional values of equity, integrity, caring, collaboration, personal and collective accountability

    29. Perform other related duties as assigned

    Junior High/Middle School Positions:

    30. Directs the development and implementation of student course selection and master schedule programs and procedures; understands credential authorizations in relation to teacher assignment and master schedule

    31. Assures student preparedness for and transition to high school; administers student progress and educational evaluation programs and activities


    SALARY: $150,784 - $180,645 annually (199 days) (max. salary includes longevity & educational stipends)


    EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the District’s “Improvement of Professional Services” handbook, Board Policies and Procedures and consistent with collective bargaining agreements when applicable.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator’s license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.
