As a Lead Service Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, and testing high-voltage X-ray generators, X-ray tubes, and associated X-ray subsystems. This role supports in-house repairs, field service activities, and preventive maintenance programs while ensuring compliance with radiation safety standards and manufacturer specifications.

You will provide hands-on technical expertise while supporting the development and mentoring of service technicians, coordinating repair activities, and collaborating closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Customer Support teams.

This position requires strong problem-solving skills, sound technical judgment, effective communication, and the ability to lead complex service activities from initial diagnosis through final resolution.

As a Lead Service Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Diagnosing and repairing high-voltage X-ray generators, power supplies, control boards, and inverter modules.

  • Performing X-ray tube testing, conditioning, vacuum integrity checks, and filament, cathode, and anode evaluations and repairs.

  • Troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and thermal issues using schematics, high-voltage diagrams, and diagnostic tools.

  • Executing preventive maintenance on generators, X-ray tubes, cooling systems, and interlock circuits.

  • Documenting repairs, test results, parts usage, and failure analysis in service reports.

  • Maintaining compliance with radiation safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and ESD requirements.

  • Supporting RMA evaluations, root cause analysis, and refurbishment activities.

  • Assisting with customer communications regarding repair findings, timelines, and recommendations.

  • Providing technical leadership, mentoring, training, and support to service technicians and other technical personnel.

  • Supporting service planning, prioritization, and coordination of multiple repair activities to reduce turnaround times.

  • Traveling domestically and internationally as required for training and related service activities.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a technical diploma or degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience in a related field.

  • Have experience working with high-voltage systems and equipment operating at hazardous voltage levels.

  • Demonstrate experience supporting customer escalations and complex field service activities.

  • Have experience with quality systems, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Possess knowledge of applicable electrical, radiation safety, and equipment compliance requirements.

  • Have experience developing technical training materials, service procedures, and troubleshooting documentation.

  • Be able to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.

  • Demonstrate proficiency using oscilloscopes, high-voltage probes, multimeters, and diagnostic software tools.

  • Possess strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Be able to safely lift 40-50 lbs and work around high-voltage and X-ray systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have 3-5 years of experience servicing X-ray generators, X-ray tubes, or high-voltage imaging equipment.

  • Have experience in refurbishment, failure analysis, or component-level board repair.

  • Demonstrate understanding of cooling systems, including oil, water, and forced-air cooling technologies used in X-ray equipment.

  • Have experience working in a regulated manufacturing or service environment such as ISO 9001.
