Director of Ecommerce (Shopify & Digital Operations)

Position Summary
MARIA TASH is seeking a highly hands-on Director of Ecommerce to support the continued evolution of our Shopify-based digital business and customer experience.
This role is ideal for someone who has helped build or scale ecommerce operations in an evolving environment and is comfortable operating both strategically and tactically. The Director will work cross-functionally across Ecommerce, Marketing, Creative, Customer Service, Merchandising, Operations, and Technology to help strengthen the operational foundation of the business while supporting the long-term digital vision of the brand.
The position will initially partner closely with an external ecommerce and development team based in Dubai while helping establish stronger internal ownership, workflows, coordination, and operational discipline in New York.
The ideal candidate understands that luxury ecommerce is not simply transactional — it is an extension of the in-store and studio experience. This person should be highly collaborative, resourceful, operationally strong, and capable of helping translate the MARIA TASH brand experience into a seamless digital customer journey.
Key Responsibilities
Ecommerce Operations & Shopify Management
• Support the day-to-day operational management of the Shopify ecommerce environment
• Partner with external ecommerce and development teams on site enhancements, integrations, issue resolution, and operational improvements
• Help prioritize ecommerce initiatives and translate business needs into actionable requirements
• Ensure site functionality, operational accuracy, and overall customer experience are maintained to a high standard
• Oversee ecommerce workflows related to orders, inventory visibility, fulfillment coordination, returns, and customer recovery
Customer Journey & Digital Experience
• Help evolve the online customer experience to better reflect the education, service, and guidance traditionally experienced within MARIA TASH stores and studios
• Partner closely with Marketing, Creative, Merchandising, and Customer Service teams to ensure digital storytelling and operational execution remain aligned
• Support improvements across navigation, product discovery, onsite content, and conversion opportunities
• Ensure digital communication and customer-facing experiences remain premium, intuitive, and operationally accurate
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Operational Alignment
• Serve as a central operational connector between ecommerce and cross-functional departments including Marketing, Creative, Customer Service, Merchandising, Operations, and Technology
• Help establish scalable workflows, operational processes, and communication structures as the ecommerce business evolves
• Work collaboratively with Customer Service and store-facing teams to support a seamless customer journey across digital and retail touchpoints
• Assist in identifying operational gaps, friction points, and opportunities for improved efficiency and customer experience
Strategic Development & Future Growth
• Contribute to the long-term evolution of the ecommerce business with awareness toward future international and regional expansion opportunities
• Support the continued development of internal ecommerce structure, ownership, and operational best practices
• Operate as both a strategic thought partner and highly hands-on contributor during a period of ongoing organizational growth
Qualifications & Experience
• 8–12 years of ecommerce experience, preferably within luxury, fashion, beauty, or premium consumer environments
• Strong Shopify experience required
• Experience working within evolving or growing ecommerce organizations, including exposure to building operational processes and structure
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally across creative, marketing, operations, technology, and customer-facing teams
• Strong understanding of ecommerce operations, customer experience, fulfillment coordination, and digital workflows
• Experience partnering with external agencies, development teams, or ecommerce vendors
• Highly collaborative, resourceful, organized, and comfortable operating in an evolving environment
• Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders
