Material Handler

Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Material Handler Lead to join our team. As a Material Handler Lead, you will be responsible for loading, unloading, and conveying materials within or near our plant, yard, or work site. You will perform a combination of tasks under specific direction, which may include shipping and/or receiving.

Key Responsibilities:

• Load, unload, and convey materials within or near plant, yard, or work site
• Perform a combination of tasks under specific direction, which may include shipping and/or receiving
• Open containers using hand tools
• Count, weigh, and sample materials
• Use computer systems for tracking, logging, verifying, and recording information
• Load and unload materials onto or from:
  Pallets
  Trays
  Multi-level racks
  Trucks by hand
• Convey materials using:
  Hand truck
  Forklift
  Electric dolly
  Other devices
• Stack or assemble materials
• Build and prepare crates for shipping, ensuring proper packaging and protection of materials
• Read and interpret drawings and schematics to ensure accurate handling and storage of materials
• Handle hazardous materials shipments, adhering to 49 CFR and IATA regulations, including:
  Proper labeling and packaging of hazardous materials
  Completion of required documentation, such as shipping papers and certificates of analysis
  Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements for transportation and storage of hazardous materials

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a material handling or logistics role, preferably in a defense or manufacturing environment.
• Experience with inventory management, warehouse operations, and shipping/receiving processes.
• Familiarity with material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
• Knowledge of inventory management software and warehouse management systems.
• Ability to read and understand technical documents, such as material safety data sheets (MSDS) and shipping labels.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
• Physical ability to lift, push, and pull materials and equipment.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Experience with automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS) and robotic material handling systems.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and 5S methodology.
• Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)).

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $45249 - $72399

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
