Casualty Claims Supervisor

($95,000-$110,000 annual salary - based on experience)

Your responsibilities will include the prompt investigation, settlement and payment of claims, and the training, development and performance of staff. 

What Will You Do?

»     Supervise, mentor and support a team of claims adjusters

»     Assign daily claims for prompt investigation, equitable settlement, and timely payment

»     Review and approve claims which exceed adjuster’s authority level

»     Negotiate complex, high exposure claims, authorize payments within authority level and establish reserves as needed

»     Consult with legal counsel on litigated claims and present evidence at legal proceedings

»     Review and approve claimant complaint responses

»     Report and document potential high-risk and reinsurance claims

»     Provide guidance on complex claims and act as an escalation point for resolution

»     Develop and implement best practices to improve claims efficiency

»     Collaborate with underwriters, agents and other departments to ensure consistency and service excellence

»     Provide training and development, including leading case discussions at meetings

»     Maintain a positive working relationship with policyholders, agents, vendors and attorneys

Job Requirements

»     Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent education and work experience

»     Minimum of 10 years of claims experience

»     Prior supervisory experience preferred

»     Excellent verbal and written communication skills

»     Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills

»     Ability to manage workload independently and effectively

»     A confident decision maker with negotiation skills

»     Good judgement, a great work ethic and highly self-motivated

»     Proficiency in Microsoft Suite software
