Backstage Library Works is seeking a reliable and organized Library Technician Team Lead to support our shelving project at Deschutes Public Library’s new Central Library. The Team Lead will oversee a small team as they arrange and shelve materials using the Wayfinder classification system, review shelves for accuracy and consistency, and help keep the project on schedule. The role also includes assisting with on-site label printing and application when needed. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, communicates well, and enjoys guiding others while working alongside them.
This is a full-time, temporary position requiring 40 hours per week, including one 30-minute unpaid lunch break and two 15-minute paid breaks each day. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, typically during first-shift business hours.
The position is estimated to last approximately 9 weeks.
Compensation for this role is $26.50 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of library technicians and assist with daily task assignments
- Monitor workflow to ensure accuracy, productivity, and quality standards are met
- Review shelves for correct Wayfinder classification order and consistency
- Help troubleshoot issues and communicate project updates to supervisors
- Model best practices for handling materials and shelf organization
- Track daily progress and report any challenges or delays
- Work collaboratively with Backstage project staff and library partners

Required Qualifications & Skills:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Familiarity with basic computer skills including typing, web browsing, and file management

- Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new tasks
- Professional attitude and excellent work ethic
- Reliable transportation for commuting to the workplace
Preferred Additional Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in a related field
- Experience working in a library environment
- Experience in a production-oriented setting, demonstrating efficiency and meeting deadlines
