What you will do:
1. Operational Execution
- I will meet daily production goals with minimal defects.
2. Documentation
- I will enter field documentation daily and accurately.
3. Troubleshooting and Learning
- I will troubleshoot and solve most issues on my own.
4. Attendance
- I will be present and on time. PTO requests are done in a timely manner.
5. Assist with Other Duties as Assigned
Lead Splicer Job Requirements:
1. Cable and Enclosure Preparation
- Able to properly set up and splice in a variety of different enclosures. PLP and CommScope are preferred.
- Able to prep and set up enclosures in a way that eliminates potential fault points. Have the ability to prep and splice multiple cables in one enclosure with accuracy.
- Able to properly perform a mid-entry (ring cut, mid span) on a variety of cable types (Micro, Traditional, Armored, Ribbon, Flat Drop).
- Able to neatly manage excess cable slack in vaults in a way that eliminates potential fault points.
- Able to provide examples of past enclosures that may display your quality of work.
2. Cable and Panel Preparation
- Able to properly set up and splice in a variety of different panels. Multilink, Lynn, AFL, Corning, and CommScope panels are preferred.
- Able to prep and set up panels in a way that eliminates potential fault points. Have the ability to prep and splice multiple cables in a single panel with accuracy.
- Able to neatly manage excess cable slack and mount panels in a way that eliminates potential fault points.
- Able to provide examples of past panels that may display your quality of work.
3. Testing
- Able to perform final testing (Bidi, Uni, Bare fiber, Power meter).
- Able to read a test result and analyze if it passes customers specifications.
- Able to organize and save test results as needed.
4. Troubleshooting
- Able to diagnose and pinpoint issues using an OTDR or other testing equipment as needed.
- Able to find fault points inside panels or enclosures.
- Able to splice and test during Emergency Response scenarios.
- Able to test and splice in a variety of settings and conditions as needed.
5. Communication with Customers
- Communicate clearly and professionally to provide regular status updates on project timelines, changes or issues.
- Document and share relevant customer communication in Monday.com or Microsoft Outlook.
- Know when to escalate customer questions or concerns to a Foreman or Project Manager.
- Maintain a professional appearance and respectful demeanor on all job sites.
- Confirm that work is completed to the customer’s satisfaction before leaving the site.
6. Communication with Team Members
- Communicate clearly and calmly under pressure or when troubleshooting field issues.
- Be approachable and supportive to train or guide apprentice technicians on-site.
- Ensure all team members are aligned with job specs, safety protocols, and deadlines.
- Report progress, issues, and safety concerns to Foreman or Project Managers.
