Job Description Summary
ADJUNCT LECTURER IN ACCOUNTING
The Accounting and Law Division seeks adjunct faculty, on a rolling basis, to teach accounting in our undergraduate program. We potentially have needs for the following courses in Spring 2026:
  • Financial Accounting
  • Managerial Accounting
  • Advanced Accounting
  • Financial Planning and Cost Control

Accounting is an important concentration at Babson and we are seeking a faculty member with an extensive accounting background. The undergraduate accounting courses follow a unique approach to teaching, as they focus on using and interpreting accounting for entrepreneurial and business decision-making.
What you will do:
  • Teach accounting in our undergraduate programs.
  • Adjunct faculty have the opportunity to take advantage of teaching development through our Center for Engaged Teaching and Learning (CELT) and coaching from colleagues.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.

Course descriptions:
Financial Accounting (ACC1000) will provide you with an introduction to the Construction, Analysis and Forecasting of Financial Statements. These financial statements consist of the income statement, the balance sheet and the statement of cash flows as well as the associated explanatory statement footnotes. Using actual entrepreneurial companies as well as publicly traded companies you will learn how to prepare, analyze, interpret and forecast financial statements. By the conclusion of the course, you will be able to forecast and analyze financial statements for investment decisions as well as to model and analyze the financial effects of different strategic directions as an owner of the company. These skills will benefit you in whatever career path you choose.
Managerial Accounting (ACC2002) builds on knowledge acquired in Financial Accounting. The objective of the course is to help students develop the skillset needed to identify, measure and analyze relevant information for making strategically-appropriate decisions in the pursuit of superior financial performance. This skillset is critical for all entrepreneurs and business managers. The course explores how costs are measured and viewed, how costs relate to revenues, and how both costs and revenues will react to proposed business actions. The course covers a variety of topics related to the measurement of operational results, including how measurement can motivate appropriate business behavior. It challenges students to use their newly-acquired skills to evaluate the design and measurement of business operations, to select beneficial tactical actions, and to make strategic business decisions.
Advanced Accounting (ACC4530) extends the in-depth study of accounting concepts and techniques which began in Intermediate Accounting I and II. Topics include business combinations and consolidation of financial statements, accounting for variable interest entities, translation and remeasurement of foreign currency-denominated financial statements and consolidation of foreign subsidiaries, governmental and not-for-profit accounting and accounting for partnerships.
Financial Planning and Cost Control (ACC3510) explores cost systems and control for operations in profit and nonprofit organizations, and budgetary considerations and variance analysis, including their relation to fiscal planning and administration.

A successful applicant is an individual who:
  • Must have earned a relevant graduate degree and, preferably, is a CPA or CMA.
  • Has previous college or university teaching experience and/or practical management experience relevant to the courses being taught.
  • Must be aligned with our value of teaching excellence, collaboration, and inclusion, and those who embrace our mission to educate entrepreneurial leaders who create great economic and social value everywhere.
  • Passionate about teaching accounting among a diverse student community.
  • Is a team player and excited to coordinate teaching with other faculty in the division.
Interested applicants please submit your electronic application through https://babson.peopleadmin.com. Other applications will not be accepted. Candidates who believe they can contribute to enhancing diversity at the College are strongly encouraged to apply. The College does not offer visa sponsorship for this position.
