NOTE: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Modeling, Simulation, and Aviation Systems Engineering to support the Advanced Tactical Combat Model (ATCOM) for the U.S. Army Air Maneuver Battle Lab (AMBL).
The SME will provide advanced technical expertise in the development, modification, and validation of high-fidelity simulation models used to represent aircraft, sensors, weapons systems, autonomous behaviors, and synthetic operational environments. This role supports Army and Joint experimentation efforts focused on evaluating future aviation and multi-domain warfare concepts.
The ideal candidate will have deep experience in engineering-based simulation development, including physics-based modeling, performance analysis, and software-driven simulation environments used in defense experimentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and validate high-fidelity simulation models representing:
- Aircraft (manned and unmanned)
- Sensors and targeting systems
- Weapons and effects models
- Air defense and ground systems
- Implement and enhance autonomous behaviors and system interactions, including:
- Actions-on-contact logic
- Resource allocation (fuel, ammunition, logistics)
- System degradation and repair modeling
- Support integration of synthetic environment data, including:
- Terrain and urban modeling (OTBv8, UHRB)
- Environmental data standards (EDM, SEDRIS, EDCS)
- Develop and refine physics-based performance models, including:
- Kinematics and dynamics
- Signature modeling (IR, radar, RF)
- Lethality and engagement modeling (PK, seeker logic)
- Perform software-level simulation development and testing, including:
- Code development and modification (C , Python, MATLAB or similar)
- Configuration management and version control
- Verification and validation of simulation outputs
- Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and Army stakeholders during experimentation and capability assessments
- Document model changes, assumptions, and technical findings in formal technical documentation
Minimum QualificationsEducation
