Title: Customer Experience Specialist

We pride ourselves in being the fishing experts on all things fishing Alaska. Customers come to us for our meticulously curated gear and personalized service they can’t find anywhere else. In fact, many of our customers have shopped with us for decades and we know them by name. We're dedicated to empowering everyone who visits our shop to make the most of their Alaskan fishing experience. In short, we’ve been helping Alaskans and those who love fishing in Alaska catch more fish since the 1950s and we couldn’t be prouder of that fact.

Position Overview: As a Customer Experience Specialist, you'll be at the forefront of our mission to elevate the Alaskan fishing experience for all, particularly during our busy summer season. Your role goes beyond managing transactions – you'll be a friendly face, a trusted advisor, and a vital part of our team as well as the larger community of those passionate about fishing in and around Alaska.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with customers and colleagues in a friendly, attentive manner.
  • Provide customers with advice and guidance on our products and services.
  • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using our point-of-sale system, ensuring a seamless checkout experience.
  • Proactively cross-sell products and introduce customers to new gear tailored to their needs and preferences.
  • Resolve customer inquiries, complaints, and issues with professionalism and empathy, turning every interaction into an opportunity to exceed expectations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming checkout area, reflecting our commitment to excellence in every detail.
  • Collaborate with teammates to optimize store operations and enhance the overall customer experience.
  • A willingness to keep abreast of best practices and learn new things.
  • Provide assistance in additional areas as needed.

Qualifications:

  • A love for Alaska, the outdoors and fishing.
  • Previous and proven experience in the fishing and/or sporting goods industry.
  • Retail sales or customer service, with a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences, especially during high-volume periods.
  • Excellent selling and communication skills.
  • The ability to engage with both customers and colleagues effectively— in-person and over the phone with a focus on building rapport and trust.
  • Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with point-of-sale systems.
  • A positive attitude, a proactive approach, and a willingness to go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, particularly during the summer fishing season.

Salary: Starting at $16.00 per hour
