Job Summary

BND Contracting is seeking an experienced Safety Inspector (B) to support and maintain a safe, compliant, and productive shipyard work environment. This position is responsible for conducting workplace safety inspections, enforcing OSHA and company safety standards, identifying hazards, and supporting incident prevention efforts throughout assigned operational areas. The Safety Inspector will work closely with employees, supervisors, and management to promote a strong culture of safety accountability and regulatory compliance within marine and shipyard operations.

The ideal candidate will have proven shipyard safety experience, strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, and the ability to effectively communicate and enforce safety procedures in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections of shipyard work areas, equipment, and operations to ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
• Instruct employees and supervisors on safe work practices, hazard recognition, and accident prevention techniques.
• Monitor adherence to established safety procedures and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
• Respond to workplace safety concerns, incidents, emergencies, or security-related issues.
• Investigate unsafe working conditions, near misses, and employee safety complaints.
• Maintain accurate safety records, inspection logs, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
• Inspect and monitor fire prevention systems, first-aid equipment, and safety supplies.
• Support assigned projects and operational areas in maintaining safe working conditions.
• Assist management with safety audits, training initiatives, and continuous improvement programs.
• Promote a culture of safety awareness, accountability, and regulatory compliance throughout the organization.

Must-Have Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in plant inspection, marine safety, or safety administration.
• Proven work history in a shipyard or marine industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
• Ability to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively at all organizational levels.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and generate timely reports.
• Basic understanding of shipyard or plant operations.
• First Aid training or willingness to obtain certification.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
• Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Knowledge of workers’ compensation, environmental health, and federal/state safety regulations.
• CPR/AED Certification.
• Experience with safety management systems and reporting software.
• Bilingual communication skills are a plus.
• Experience supporting safety initiatives in marine, industrial, or heavy manufacturing operations.
