Job Title: Quality Inspector (QA/QC – Pipe & Structural)
Location: Pascagoula, MS
Pay Rate: $33.00 per hour
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to join our team in Pascagoula, MS. This role supports quality assurance and quality control efforts in a shipyard/manufacturing environment, specifically focused on pipe and structural components within marine and shipbuilding operations. The inspector will ensure materials, fabrication, and installations meet required codes, specifications, and quality standards.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing, shipyard, or QA/QC inspection
- Marine, shipbuilding, or maritime industry experience required
- Direct QA/QC experience with pipe and structural systems
- Ability to inspect at least three (3) of the following areas:
- Welding
- Piping systems
- Structural fabrication
- Proficiency in non-destructive examination (NDE) methods, including:
- Radiographic film interpretation
- Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
- Ultrasonic Thickness Gauging (UT)
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, codes, and specifications
- Experience identifying defects such as weld discontinuities, cracks, leaks, misalignment, and dimensional issues
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights (over 5 feet)
- Willingness to wear a respirator when required
- Strong adherence to safety and quality procedures
- Ability to work overtime as needed and maintain reliable attendance
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive experience in a shipyard or heavy marine industrial environment
- Familiarity with piping systems, structural steel standards, and marine fabrication processes
- Experience with pressure testing, hydrostatic testing, and system testing
- Background in QA/QC documentation, inspection reports, and turnover packages
- Experience with construction or inspection photography
- Certifications in NDE methods (PT, MT, UT, RT) or welding inspection (e.g., CWI)
Key Responsibilities
- Perform QA/QC inspections on pipe systems and structural components
- Inspect welds, joints, and materials for surface and structural defects
- Verify fit-up, alignment, and dimensional accuracy using inspection tools
- Review and validate compliance with drawings, isometrics, and specifications
- Conduct pressure/hydro testing to identify leaks or integrity issues
- Reject non-conforming work and document defects and corrective actions
- Evaluate installations for proper assembly and functionality
- Assist with systems testing and trials, including marine/sea trials
- Maintain accurate inspection records and reports
- Follow all safety, environmental, and quality standards
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
