Form Carpenter

B&D Contracting is seeking experienced and dependable Form Carpenters for commercial construction, heavy civil, and concrete construction projects in the New Orleans, Louisiana area.

This position is responsible for constructing, installing, aligning, and dismantling concrete forms used for foundations, footings, walls, columns, slabs, and other concrete structures.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of form carpentry experience, strong knowledge of construction blueprints, the ability to work independently or as part of a crew, and a commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.

• Construct, assemble, install, and dismantle wood, metal, and prefabricated concrete forms.
• Read and interpret construction blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Measure, cut, shape, and assemble lumber, plywood, and other forming materials.
• Build forms for concrete foundations, footings, walls, columns, beams, and slabs.
• Set and align forms to proper elevations, grades, and dimensions.
• Install braces, supports, ties, and reinforcement to maintain structural stability during concrete placement.
• Use hand tools, power tools, levels, laser levels, and measuring equipment.
• Assist with concrete placement, finishing preparation, and form removal.
• Inspect completed formwork to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
• Coordinate with supervisors, concrete crews, and other construction personnel.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety procedures.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Form Carpenter in commercial construction or heavy civil projects.
• Experience building and setting concrete forms for foundations, footings, walls, and slabs.
• Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and measurements.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and carpentry equipment.
• Knowledge of formwork layout, leveling, squaring, and bracing techniques.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to perform physically demanding construction work.
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
• Strong understanding of construction job-site safety practices.

• Experience working on heavy civil, industrial, or large commercial construction projects.
• Experience with engineered formwork systems such as Symons, Doka, or PERI.
• Experience with concrete placement and finishing operations.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• Experience using laser levels and construction layout equipment.
• Ability to lead or assist a form carpentry crew.

• Ability to lift and carry construction materials weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance for heavier loads.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work for extended periods.
• Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, and elevated work platforms while following safety requirements.
• Ability to work outdoors in hot, cold, wet, and other construction environments.
