MINIMUM SKILLS AND ABILITIES · Able to work from a drawing without supervision and able to set up the workpiece without specific supervision. · Able to operate all needed tools, equipment, and machinery in the shop. · Able to perform manual arc welding. · Must be math oriented. · Able to read blueprints. · Basic machining skills. · Able to perform with little or no supervision. · Able to be on call after hours and weekends and can go on road jobs. · Possess good communication skills and can work along with fellow team members. |
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB FUNCTIONS · Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, or specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. · Calculates where to cut or bore into the work piece, how fast to feed the metal into the machine, and how much metal to remove. · Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides or subsequent machining. · Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines, such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers. · Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media. · Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required. · Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications and verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly · May install machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and test operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance. · Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly using jigs, fixtures, surface plates, surface table, etc. · Must be able to work in confined/enclosed spaces. · Must be able to work/climb in elevations greater than 5’. · Must be able to wear/work a respirator when applicable. · Must follow all Company policies and procedures, including those relative to employee safety, environmental policy, and the principles of our quality system. · Other duties assigned or requested by Management. · Works overtime as required. · Reports to work daily and on time. |
