Position Summary
The Controller is a strategic, hands-on professional solely responsible for managing the full scope of the company’s financial operations. As a department of one, this role demands a self-driven individual who can seamlessly execute bookkeeping, accounting, reporting, and compliance functions with precision and autonomy. In addition, the Controller provides direct administrative and operational support to the CEO, ensuring smooth execution of executive initiatives and organizational priorities.
This role is critical to maintaining the financial health of the business through rigorous accounting, cost control, and internal auditing. The Controller ensures all practices align with company policies, procedures, and values—humble, dedicated, customer-first, transparent, and reliable. Accounting & Financial Management
· Lead all accounting operations including general ledger, financial reporting, and reconciliations
· Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
· Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support strategic planning
· Monitor financial performance and provide actionable insights to leadership
· Ensure compliance with GAAP and all relevant tax and regulatory requirements
· Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure timely filings and audit readiness
Bookkeeping & Transactional Responsibilities
· Perform daily bookkeeping tasks including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and ledger maintenance
· Process accounts payable, receivable, and collections ensuring accuracy and timeliness
· Process payroll and related tax filings
· Generate and send invoices for select customers, track payments, and follow up on outstanding balances
· Maintain organized financial records and documentation for audits and reporting
· Categorize and monitor expenses to support budgeting and cost control initiatives
· Provide administrative support to CEO including but not limited to communication and calendar management, meeting preparation, and update on key initiatives
Cost Control & Financial Efficiency
· Identify cost-saving opportunities across departments without compromising quality or service
· Analyze spending trends and implement controls to reduce waste and improve margins
· Collaborate with department heads to optimize resource allocation and operational efficiency
· Evaluate vendor contracts and pricing structures to ensure best value
· Promote a culture of financial discipline and accountability throughout the organization
· Evaluate job costing by analyzing staffing expenses, operational inputs, and time-to-completion metrics to assess project profitability and execution efficiency
Auditing & Compliance
· Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and ethical standards
· Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity
· Document and enforce financial policies and operational best practices
· Ensure transparency in financial reporting and decision-making processes
· Maintain readiness for external audits and regulatory reviews
Operational & Compliance Support
· Support HR functions related to finance and accounting
· Manage business licenses, insurance policies, and regulatory filings
· Evaluate and implement financial systems and tools to improve workflow and data accuracy
· Ensure all operations reflect the company’s commitment to transparency and reliability
Policy, Practice & Procedure Implementation
· Develop and document clear financial policies, practices, and procedures that align with company values, legal and regulatory standards, and best practices and train team to promote cross-functional understanding and compliance
· Create internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud or mismanagement
· Implement approval workflows for expenses, purchases, and vendor payments to maintain transparency and accountability
· Monitor adherence to established practices and proactively address deviations or inefficiencies
· Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related discipline; or equivalent professional experience
· 5 years of experience in accounting, financial management, or controllership
· Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop, Excel, and financial reporting systems
· Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills
· Proven ability to uphold confidentiality and act with integrity
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
