What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optician position at Azul Vision?
The Optician provides eyeglasses, lenses, and other products and services most expeditiously and courteously as possible and assures that all goods and services are of the finest quality available. To ensure that monies are properly accounted for, that inventory is maintained appropriately, and that all production work is performed within the published accuracy and quality guidelines set forth by Atlantis Eyecare. The optician is responsible for sales and productivity goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to match patient needs with optical solution
- Knowledge of insurance plans and benefits
- Meet optical productivity and financial goals
- Assists patients in the selection of their eyewear to conform to prescription specifications, size considerations, color, style application in accordance with the patient's personal preference, needs, facial feature, and coloring
- Assist patients to order their contact lens prescription
- Measures patients head, face, and inter-ocular distance to complete the Rx order for complete and accurate production of eyeglass order
- Confirms with the patient the various inclusions in their order, verifying both the product and cost for each component
- Accurately and efficiently enter data orders, charges, payments and other required information into appropriate website and electronic medical records system.
- Billing all orders, contacts, and eyewear accurately and within 24 hours of date of service
- Responding to any emails/phone calls regarding billing inconsistencies within 24 hours
- Sending all eyewear order forms correctly to Optical Biller within the same date of service, and following procedure for outside Optical biller
- Inspects and verifies the accuracy of in-coming orders from production to assure compliance with national standards for accuracy and quality. Determines the accuracy of all products supplied for size, tint, and other components of the completed order
- Delivers completed order to the intended wearer by bending the frame material using specialized tools and equipment
- Track product activity regarding ordering, receiving, usage, requirements for items for inventory supplies required for patient care and service
- Monitors and takes corrective action regarding the physical condition of the boutique to be certain that frames on display are clean, properly labeled, and properly adjusted, displays are clean, in good repair, and neat, mirrors are clean and well-lit, organized, and conducive to smooth patient flow
- Within 24 hours of inventory being delivered, the proper protocol is used in adding the inventory into stock
- Inventory is completed on a quarterly basis to the expectation and standards set by organizations policies
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
- High School Diploma (or its equivalent)
- Up to and including 1 year of experience.
- Experience working with the public.
Preferred:
- Over 1 year and up to and including 3 years of experience.
- Experience in medical reception and customer service.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Computer literate.
- Ability to type 25 wpm.
- Working knowledge of general office duties.
- Working knowledge of contracted insurance plans.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good telephone skills.
- Customer service oriented.
- Task-oriented.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional, fast-paced, medical clinic environment. This role routinely uses
standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and interacts
with both staff and patients.
Physical Demands
The employee is required to stand and use both hands for typing for extended periods of time; Walk,
climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl periodically. The employee must frequently lift
and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities
required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth
perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 hours a
day shifts with occasional overtime as required.
Travel
This position may require up to 50% travel. Travel to multiple clinic locations, will be required throughout the week, and at times on short notice.
