Description

The Construction Career Development Manager is responsible for leading and supporting the overall recruiting, hiring, and staffing strategy as well as career development for entry level positions within AZCO Operations Team. The position will lead the process of guiding early career employee-owners throughout their experience from onboarding to rotational assignments and career development. You will partner with Construction leadership and hiring managers to effectively coach and develop early career employee-owners. The position will work closely with the Human Resources recruitment team as well Construction Directors and other Construction Leadership to establish hiring goals as well as recruitment, training, and retention strategies.

  • Responsible for recruiting and identifying potential interns and Construction Coordinators for AZCO Operations.
  • Develop strategy & participate in creating relationships and recruiting strategies at key universities. Will include some cross-recruiting collaboration with other Construction departments such as project controls.
  • Develop and implement strategy and programs for Construction Coordinators for onboarding and meaningful work experiences across departments (self-perform, construction management, program management, project controls, procurement, estimating, etc.).
  • Analyze retention and turnover numbers and work with Human Resources to identify root cause retention reasons.
  • Manage career path development of interns and construction coordinators.
  • Work with Human Resources and Division Management on development, implementation, and expansion of the intern program.
  • Work with other construction locations to develop consistent meaningful experiences for interns and construction coordinators.
  • Work with other offices and construction subsidiaries to develop best practices for the construction coordinator career path including project management, site construction management, project controls, pre-construction, and others as needed.
  • Drive implementation, training, best practices, and adoption of Procore and other construction project management related tools.
  • Develop and implement construction project management-specific training targeting early-careers. Grow and implement formal training experiences & program across multiple delivery/execution models.
  • Support the development & hosting of the annual Construction Assistant Project Manager training conference.
  • Identify early career staffing needs with Construction Directors and be the main point of contact with the Early Careers recruitment team.
  • Support and develop content for project management department level meetings.
  • Interface and coordinate as needed across the entire Field Operations Management team to promote & develop career paths within the Field; help Construction Coordinators identify a career path within AZCO construction as they promote out of the position.
  • Participate in providing consistent performance feedback to Construction Coordinators.
  • Provide formal and informal mentorship for Construction Coordinators.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, development, training, and retention of staff.
  • Responsible for conducting performance evaluations for department staff.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the department.
  • Responsible for interpreting the organization's policies, purposes, and goals to staff.
  • Responsible for overall QA/QC process adherence.
  • Enforce compliance with company and site safety policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field and 3 years relevant project management experience in the construction industry. Required or
  • Additional applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement. Required
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access).
  • Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control and project management software is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. Ability to handle large volumes of work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Multiple years of experience on construction project sites or executing program management in the industries of aviation, commercial, energy, government, manufacturing, oil & gas, process, transportation, transmission & distribution, or water is preferred.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification Preferred
  • OSHA 30-hour certification Preferred
