The Craft Labor Development Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining highly skilled union craft teams to ensure the safe, quality-driven, and timely delivery of construction projects. This role will play a key role in sharing lessons learned and delivering equipment-specific training to support craft competency and growth. This role will involve regular site visits, task and equipment performance evaluations, and identification of improvement opportunities.
- Adhere to AZCO’s quality and safety culture and Zero Injury Program.
- Lead the recruitment, dispatching, development, training, and retention of union craft personnel in a manner that supports a positive and productive work environment.
- Build strong relationships with union craft employees by understanding their capabilities, providing the tools they need to succeed, and creating opportunities for growth.
- Assess labor utilization and availability during the estimating, preconstruction, and construction phases.
- Maintain ongoing communication with Union Locals regarding current and future staffing needs.
- Coordinate with the unions on the portability and placement of key union craft personnel.
- Support the planning and execution of Pre-Job Meetings.
- Provide performance feedback and identify critical training and development needs to support succession planning.
- Develop and implement training programs that are aligned with AZCO’s operations initiatives, policies, and procedures.
- Assist in evaluating union operator compensation packages.
- Partner with field operations to recruit and select key union craft personnel based on skills, abilities, development, and project needs.
- Interpret and communicate company and site-specific safety policies and expectations craft personnel.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Complies with all policies and standards
- High School Diploma/GED and 11 years' experience in construction and direct or indirect supervision required or Associate Degree in related field and 9 years' experience in construction and direct or indirect supervision required or Bachelor Degree in related field and 7 years' experience in construction and direct or indirect supervision required.
- 5 years of experience in industrial construction management within the union trades preferred.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle large volumes of work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to meet company's driving requirements.
