Aya Healthcare has an opportunity for an experienced Credentialing Coordinator to support an 16-week contract with a facility located in Portland, OR!
Assignment Details
- Start: Immediately upon onboarding completion.
- Schedule: Mon–Fri, 8am to 5pm
- Pay: $25-28/hour
- Length: 16 weeks (can be extending longer, depending on future needs of the dept.)
- Onboarding: 1-2 weeks
Summary of Credentialing Coordinator:
Assumes responsibility for all aspects of the credentialing, re-credentialing and privileging processes for all medical providers who provide patient care. Ensures providers are credentialed, appointed, and privileged with delegating health plans. Maintains up-to-date data for each provider in credentialing database and online systems; ensure timely renewal of licenses and certifications. Works on routine assignments within defined parameters, established guidelines and precedents.
Duties of Credentialing Coordinator:
- Review and process applications for providers who are joining or renewing their credentials, following established policies and ensuring all requirements and standards are met.
- Apply knowledge of state and federal regulations, as well as organizational and accreditation requirements (including DNV, TJC, and NCQA), to ensure all applications are compliant.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies, negative findings, or missing information within applications and verification results, ensuring accuracy before processing.
- Communicate regularly with internal departments and external contacts to facilitate timely completion of credentialing applications.
- Maintain organized, accurate, and confidential credentialing files for each provider, including sensitive peer review information.
- Follow up on incomplete applications, obtain required documentation, and complete primary source verifications and database searches, including license verifications, OIG, Opt-Out, and NPDB checks.
- Monitor application progress, track outstanding requirements, and obtain necessary approvals to ensure provider records are complete, accurate, and current before final review.
- Manage and update credentialing data within internal systems, including new applications, reappointments, privilege modifications, and status changes.
- Document all credentialing activities and maintain accurate records throughout the credentialing lifecycle, from application initiation through final completion.
Requirements for Credentialing Coordinator:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 3 years medical staff credentialing experience in a healthcare or insurance provider setting
- Demonstrated software database experience (for efficient generation of letters and other correspondence, activity tracking and report production).
- Familiarity with legal, state, TJC and NCQA guidelines in assuring medical staff compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred
