Job Summary Of The Purchasing Specialist

Requirements Of The Purchasing Specialist
- AA degree required, BS degree in business, engineering, supply chain, procurement, finance or related field preferred
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in supply chain management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are a must
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Contract management experience
- Strong communication skills
- Strong computer skills, especially Outlook, Excel
- Supply Chain Management or APIC certification preferred
- Medical Device and/or biotech experience preferred
- Sourcing experience preferred
The specific duties of the Purchasing Specialist include but are not limited to:
- Support short- and long-term supply chain strategies by building strong relationships with internaldepartments and external vendors, planning for inventory to maintain safety & quality, ensurebusiness continuity, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
- Procure necessary supplies to support production and business needs while adhering to all quality andcorporate procedures.
- Negotiates with vendors for good and services, negotiating the best possible price and serviceguarantee.
- Assist in developing new supply sources where vendors meet specifications and quality standards.
- Examines bids, reviews with management, and makes awards.
- Establishes account/credit and terms.
- Negotiates blanket purchase orders when appropriate, reviews with management, and monitors costduring the time period.
- Works closely with receiving staff to ensure proper supplies arrived
- Traces delinquent arrivals from purchase orders.
- Assist in resolving issues and conflicts with suppliers
- Maintain all applicable databases (Great Plains, Excel) used in developing the cost and quantityestimates, planning, and tracking inventory
- Support business by analyzing production flow, supply inventory / deliver, working with sales to ensuresafe and effective product is available for customers.
- Coordinate closely with sales and marketing teams to understand forecast and ensure appropriateanalysis and data is put together to Censure production plan meets future demand.
- Coordinate closely with other departments (e.g. finance, quality, processing center(s), distributioncenter(s)) to create data needed to ensure appropriate plans are in place to meet current and futurecustomer demand.
- Create routine analysis (e.g. current inventory status) for use at weekly production meetings. Report out production metrics to aid operations in the routine planning process
- Flexibly analyze production / demand in different ways as the needs of the business change.
