Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Safety Manager to work under our Safety Director to oversee safety protocols and compliance on utility solar projects that require travel and on-site presence. In this role, you will champion a safety-first culture across construction sites, ensuring all activities adhere to industry standards, local regulations, and best practices. Your expertise will drive risk management initiatives, promote occupational health, and ensure the well-being of all team members working in diverse and challenging environments. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead safety efforts in the renewable energy sector, making a tangible impact on sustainable infrastructure development. This position is job specific with the potential to stay on as a FT long-term employee if desired.
Duties
- Enforce safety programs as instructed by the Safety Director to utility solar construction projects.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards, enforce safety protocols, and ensure adherence to NEC (National Electrical Code) standards.
- Lead safety training sessions for construction teams, subcontractors, and visitors to promote occupational health awareness and safe work practices.
- Manage incident investigations, prepare detailed reports, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Oversee workers' compensation claims processes and coordinate with insurance providers to ensure timely resolution.
- Utilize construction management software to track safety metrics, document inspections, and monitor compliance status across multiple sites.
- Collaborate with project managers and construction management teams to integrate EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) standards into daily operations.
- Stay current with evolving OSHA regulations, NEC updates, and industry best practices to continuously improve safety performance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction management or construction site safety within utility solar or renewable energy projects. 5 years experience required.
- Strong knowledge of risk management principles, OSHA regulations, NEC standards, and workers' compensation procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute effective occupational health programs on active construction sites.
- Familiarity with construction management software and safety compliance management tools.
- Excellent communication skills for conducting training sessions, safety meetings, and incident investigations.
- Ability to travel frequently between project sites while maintaining high safety standards on-site.
- Construction site experience with a focus on EHS practices is essential; prior experience in utility-scale solar projects is highly preferred. Pay: $35.00 - $60.00 per hour
