Supplier Quality Engineer

Axios Professional Recruitment is seeking a 6-month contract Supplier Quality Engineer to join a leading manufacturer in Greenville, Michigan.

The Supplier Quality Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of materials and components across the supply chain. This individual will partner closely with suppliers, procurement, and internal teams to drive supplier performance, resolve quality issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This position is critical to maintaining product integrity and supporting new product development efforts.

Responsibilities:

Supplier Quality Management:

• Conduct supplier audits, including process, system, and layered audits

• Develop and maintain supplier scorecards and performance metrics

• Drive supplier corrective actions using structured problem-solving methodologies

• Validate containment actions and long-term corrective solutions

Root Cause & Problem Solving:

• Lead root cause investigations using 8D, A3, or DMAIC methodologies

• Support production teams in resolving component-related issues

• Conduct failure analysis and coordinate testing as needed

• Verify effectiveness of corrective actions through data analysis

New Product & Process Support:

• Review and approve first article inspections and PPAP submissions

• Support engineering changes and supplier change management processes

• Ensure process capability and quality standards are met prior to production launch

Incoming & Production Support:

• Improve incoming inspection processes and sampling plans

• Reduce production disruptions related to supplier quality issues

• Partner with operations to implement mistake-proofing solutions

• Support warranty analysis and field failure investigations

Travel:

• Travel to domestic and occasional international supplier sites

• Travel may range from 1–2 weeks per month depending on business needs

• Increased travel during new product launches or major quality events

Qualifications:

Required:

• 3 years of experience in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, or Quality Engineering

• Experience conducting supplier audits

• Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

• Proficiency with measurement tools and inspection methods

• Willingness and ability to travel as needed

• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check

Preferred:

• Experience within refrigeration, appliances, or electromechanical manufacturing

• Knowledge of sealed systems, tubing assemblies, or electrical components

• Familiarity with PPAP, APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, and SPC

• Understanding of GD&T and capability analysis

• Experience working directly with production teams
