Axios Professional Recruitment has partnered with a well-established Grand Rapids law firm seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support attorneys in its litigation and insurance defense practice areas. The ideal candidate will bring experience in civil litigation and insurance defense, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage dictation and scheduling responsibilities in a fast-paced professional environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, edit, and format correspondence, pleadings, memoranda, and other legal documents
- Transcribe dictation accurately and efficiently
- Manage attorney calendars, including scheduling hearings, depositions, meetings, IMEs, and discovery deadlines
- Maintain case files and ensure all documentation is properly organized and filed
- Coordinate and track court filings, ensuring all deadlines and procedural requirements are met
- Screen calls, route messages, and provide courteous and professional client service
- Assist in preparing and finalizing documents for submission to courts and opposing counsel
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive client and firm information at all times
- Enter and verify attorney time tickets in the billing system
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably in litigation, insurance defense, or civil law
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and case management software
- Experience with dictation and transcription required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to proofread and edit documents for accuracy
- Professional demeanor and the ability to always maintain confidentiality
