We are seeking a Director of Business Development and Growth to lead enterprise-wide business development, capture, and strategic growth activities. This leader will play a pivotal role in growing revenues, expanding into new markets, strengthening customer relationships, and shaping Axiom’s next chapter. The successful candidate will bring experience in federal contracting, with a proven record of growth in challenging or transitional environments. This role requires a hands‑on leader who is not only strategic but also deeply engaged in day‑to‑day business development activities, someone who is willing to roll up their sleeves, drive execution, and actively participate at every level of the BD lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a key member of Axiom’s Growth Team, leading the development and execution of a growth strategy aimed at accelerating revenue, increasing win rates, and expanding market share across targeted federal agencies (e.g., DHA, VA, FDA, USDA, HHS)
- Partner with Axiom executive leadership to prioritize opportunities, strengthen value propositions, and modernize our approach to business development, capture, and proposals.
- Assess organizational gaps influencing growth, recommend solutions, and help drive alignment across teams.
- Identify, qualify, and pursue high-value opportunities by leveraging customer relationships, market intelligence, and an understanding of emerging government needs.
- Directly participate in key capture planning, pipeline development, competitive analysis, and win strategy formulation for priority pursuits using a hands-on approach.
- Using Axiom’s internal business development tool, “Aspire”, create data-driven capture plans and ensure disciplined tracking of all BD and capture activities.
- Demonstrate willingness to work side by side with the Growth Team to drive high quality, timely, and competitive proposal submissions.
- Lead new business meetings with prospective clients and partners; evaluate and structure teaming partnerships and help shape opportunities.
- Represent Axiom at networking events, industry conferences, and professional forums to expand visibility and drive new connections.
- Stay current on federal contracting trends, the evolving technology landscape, competitive shifts, and market dynamics to inform growth strategies.
Qualifications:
- Track record of driving revenue growth in federal contracting environments, ideally including turnaround or transformation scenarios.
- 8 years of experience in business development, capture management, customer engagement, or related functions within federal industry.
- Proven ability to balance high‑level strategic thinking with roll‑up‑your‑sleeves execution in fast‑paced or evolving environments.
- Proven record of achieving measurable sales results and meeting or exceeding growth targets.
