Sr. Accountant (Santa Ana)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently. This role involves managing financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing support for audits and tax filings.

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting & Financial Close

• Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
• Reconcile general ledger accounts, including inventory, prepaid expenses, accruals, and fixed assets
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP

Cost Accounting & Inventory

• Maintain and analyze weighted average costs for raw materials, labor, and overhead
• Prepare and review cost variance analysis, including purchase price variance, labor variance, and manufacturing overhead variance
• Monitor and analyze inventory valuation, reserves, and cost of goods sold
• Assist with physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and inventory reconciliations
• Partner with operations and production teams to understand manufacturing activity and cost drivers
• Support analysis of scrap, rework, labor efficiency, and overhead absorption
• Help strengthen inventory controls and improve accuracy of production data

Financial Analysis & Reporting

• Prepare monthly financial reports and supporting schedules
• Analyze actual results versus budget and forecast
• Assist with margin analysis, profitability reporting, and ad hoc management reporting
• Identify trends, risks, and opportunities related to manufacturing costs and operational performance

Compliance, Audit & Process Improvement

• Support internal and external audit requests related to inventory, costing, and financial reporting
• Maintain documentation and audit trails for key accounting processes
• Assist in implementing and improving accounting procedures and internal controls
• Participate in ERP and process improvement initiatives related to accounting and operations

Cross-Functional & Ad Hoc Support

• Assist with AP/AR tasks as needed in a small team setting
• Support audits and provide required documentation
• Participate in process improvements and system enhancements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA/CMA certification preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with month-end close, general ledger reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in stressful environments and get along with people.
