Tooling Supervisor / Engineer

We are seeking a hands-on Tooling Supervisor / Engineer to lead daily tooling operations and support manufacturing activities at our Sylmar, CA facility. This role combines technical engineering expertise with leadership responsibilities, overseeing tooling technicians, supporting tooling engineers, and driving continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in tooling design, manufacturing engineering, CNC machining, composites, and team leadership within a production environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and prioritize daily activities of tooling technicians and tooling resources

• Lead daily stand-up meetings and KPI reviews

• Monitor and report safety, quality, delivery, cost, and labor utilization metrics

• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to tooling technicians

• Partner with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to resolve manufacturing issues

• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) programs and tooling project execution

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, ergonomics, quality, and efficiency

• Assist with tooling design reviews and ensure manufacturability and maintainability standards

• Coach and develop technical team members through training and mentorship

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline

• 5 years of tooling, manufacturing engineering, or related experience

• 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment

• Strong knowledge of CNC machining, manual machining, and welding processes

• Experience with composites, fiberglass layup, epoxy, resin, and soft tooling processes

• Experience supporting NPI programs and tooling projects

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

• Experience with KPI tracking and continuous improvement methodologies

• Excellent communication and leadership skills
