Job Summary
The Cloud Operations Manager will oversee and optimize client’s cloud infrastructure, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security across all environments.
- This role leads a multidisciplinary team—including cloud engineers, SREs, network engineers, and DBAs—to deliver infrastructure for new software components using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) automation.
- The ideal candidate combines deep AWS expertise with strategic leadership and operational excellence.
- This role partners with Program and Project Managers, Business Teams, Technology Leads, Vendors, and External Stakeholders to define and implement an IT operational model that supports production maintainability and scalability.
Must Have's:
- Experience leading large teams
- Ability to view operations proactively and holistically vs. reacting to small details
- Manage ALL aspects of Cloud operations, not just 1 level of development
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning: Develop long-term cloud strategies aligned with business goals, including migration and innovation roadmaps
- Team Leadership: Mentor and guide cloud operations teams toward technical excellence
- Automation: Implement IaC practices using Terraform or CloudFormation
- Security Compliance: Enforce security protocols and regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC2)
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Ensure 24/7 system availability through proactive monitoring and incident response
- Performance Optimization: Enhance application performance for low latency and high availability
- Cost Management: Monitor cloud spend and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Innovation: Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate infrastructure vulnerabilities
- Collaboration: Align cloud operations with cross-functional business objectives
- Vendor Management: Coordinate with AWS and third-party vendors to optimize service delivery
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience: 5 years managing AWS environments and leading cloud teams
- Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of AWS services, cloud architecture, CI/CD pipelines, and scripting (Python, Bash)
- Tools: Proficiency in Jira and Excel (pivot tables, graphs, vlookups)
- Certifications: AWS Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, or DevOps Engineer (preferred)
- Soft Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills; confident and professional demeanor
Interview Process:
- Round 1: Team interview via Microsoft Teams
- Round 2 & 3: In-person interview with manager followed by an interview with leadership
- Timeline: Manager is looking to move quickly
