Daycare Director

Job Summary

Duties

• Lead the overall management of the daycare center, including staff supervision, curriculum implementation, and daily operations.
• Develop and maintain a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment that supports children’s physical, emotional, and cognitive growth.
• Oversee classroom activities ensuring they align with early childhood education best practices and developmental milestones.
• Recruit, train, motivate, and evaluate staff members to foster a collaborative team dedicated to high-quality childcare.
• Coordinate with families to communicate progress, address concerns, and promote active engagement in their children’s learning journey.
• Ensure compliance with licensing regulations, health and safety standards, first aid protocols, and state or local childcare requirements.
• Manage administrative tasks such as enrollment processes, record keeping for child development progress, attendance logs, and licensing documentation.
• Organize ongoing staff training in areas such as behavior management, special education needs, infant care, toddler care, classroom management techniques, and caregiving best practices.
• Implement policies for behavior management that promote positive reinforcement and social-emotional learning.
• Facilitate professional development opportunities related to childhood development theories and early education strategies.
• Maintain a clean, organized facility equipped for preschool activities including infant care areas and toddler care zones.
• Foster partnerships with community resources to support children with disabilities or special needs through tailored programs or referrals.

Experience

• Proven experience working with children in daycare or preschool settings with demonstrated classroom management skills.
• Prior experience in a leadership role within early childhood education or childcare administration as a Daycare Director or similar position.
• Strong background in childhood development principles including infant care, toddler care, preschool education, and special education needs.
• Knowledge of licensing regulations related to childcare centers and experience ensuring compliance with safety standards such as first aid certification.
• Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with caregiving roles such as nannying or babysitting that involve nurturing infants through preschool age groups is beneficial.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with families, staff training sessions, and community outreach initiatives.
