Job Summary
The Sr. Procurement Specialist will be responsible for handling the company's end-to-end sourcing operations. Responsible for procuring materials, supplies, and services at the most favorable costs and terms, consistent with standards of quality and consideration of time constraints. This role is estimated to be 60% tactical and 40% strategic.
Strategic Responsibilities
- Develop and execute sourcing strategy for Materials, which includes carbon steel, stainless steel, and plastic.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and supply stability.
- Manage supplier relationships and performance, including quality, cost, and delivery metrics.
- Conduct regular market analysis to stay current with commodity trends, supply chain threats/opportunities, and cost.
- Create and issue purchase orders (POs) and track status and delivery schedule of those orders.
- Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels in alignment with production schedules and demand forecasts.
- Utilize ERP systems for procurement activities, data analysis, and reporting.
- Collaborate with production planning to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components.
- Support new product introductions and engineering changes with timely sourcing and supplier coordination.
- Participate in the RGA process as it relates to vendor returns.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field.
- 4-6 years of purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- 3-5 years of influencing steel category management activities, even if not fully owned
- Exposure to ERP systems
- Solid understanding of mechanical components and industrial commodities.
- Proven ability to work against KPIs and drive measurable results.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- APICS/ASCM Certification (CPIM, CSCP) or equivalent preferred but not required.
- Experience with lean manufacturing environments or Just-in-Time (JIT) systems.
- Experience planning raw materials and managing inventory.
- Exposure to Six Sigma or other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with cost modeling and total cost of ownership (TCO) principles.
Salary : $80,000 - $90,000
