Location: Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) | New Haven, CT
Schedule: Full-Time | Includes shift work, nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime
Starting Pay: $25.00 per hour
Reports to: Airside Operations Manager
Tweed-New Haven Airport is seeking a dedicated and safety-focused Airport Operations Specialist to support the day-to-day operational integrity of both airside and landside functions. This essential role contributes directly to regulatory compliance, emergency response, and the safety and efficiency of airport operations. The position also includes Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) responsibilities on assigned shifts.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine airside inspections in compliance with FAR Part 139 and the Airport Certification Manual (ACM)
- Monitor and enforce airport safety and security standards; promptly address hazards and discrepancies
- Support emergency operations, including initial response for Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) and medical events
- Issue NOTAMs and Field Condition Reports (FCR) as necessary
- Operate snow removal equipment during winter weather operations
- Monitor access control systems, CCTV, and enforce Airport Security Plan (ASP) requirements
- Assist with landside functions including terminal operations, parking, traffic flow, and stakeholder communications
- Assist with airfield construction coordination and tenant/vendor escorting
- Respond to irregular events and complete detailed incident reporting
- Maintain airport records and assist in training stakeholders as needed
- Participate in scheduled rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in airport management or a related field strongly preferred
- Prior experience in airport operations, emergency response, or ARFF strongly preferred
- Ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced or emergency environments
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including professional radio communication
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record
- Must be able to pass and maintain TSA security clearance, background check (including fingerprinting), and federally required drug screening
- Must maintain the ability to pass required drug screenings throughout employment
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
Certifications & Training (must be obtained if not already held):
- Completion of ARFF training and ability to wear SCBA gear
- NIMS certifications: ICS-100, ICS-200, and ICS-700
- Airfield driver training (initial and annual recurrent)
- Compliance with all training requirements under FAR Part 139 and the Airport Security Plan

Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to lift/move over 75 lbs
