X-Ray Technician/Medical Assistant
Job Description
We are a heavy volume multi-specialty Orthopedic office in Lancaster and added another Digital X-ray. We are looking for an additional X-Ray Technician/Medical Assistant to perform radiologic examinations and medical assistant back office duties. You will function as a member of a clinical team in maintaining patient flow and maximizing the delivery of quality care to patients.
Performs such activities as:
- Prepares patients for radiologic procedures. Takes X-Rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
- Uses a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials.
- Ensures equipment is in working order. Reports equipment malfunctions to Management.
- Logs radiologic procedures completed. Processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.
- Maintains examination rooms. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
- Performs back office duties including, but not limited to, taking patient vitals, injections, UA's and in-house labs.
- Responsible for packaging, signing of medical records release forms & logging X-Rays.
- Ensures all radiographs achieve a radiographic interpretation by clarifying discrepancies
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bilingual – English/Spanish preferred
- 1 year of on the job training in X-Ray procedures
- Proficient knowledge of X-Ray procedures and protocols.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-Ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement.
- Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
- Ability to identify equipment problems and correcting or notifying Management.
- Knowledge of Medical terminology, knowledge of CPT/ICD 10
- Ability to type accurately and comfortable with computers – experience with EMR/EHR
- Strict attention to detail
- Understand and observe legal concepts (e.g. HIPAA, confidentiality)
- Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
- Work under pressure, within time constraints. Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation.
- Exhibit a professional and positive demeanor.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, intermittently throughout an 8 hour shift.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time, intermittently throughout an 8 hour shift.
- Ability to walk for prolonged period of time, intermittently throughout an 8 hour shift
- Ability to bend and stoop for prolonged period of time, intermittently throughout an 8 hour shift
Education and Experience:
- Certified Limited X-ray Technician with Spine, Extremities and Torso-skeletal to include digital radiography REQUIRED
- Appropriate state licensure for nuclear safety
- Back Office Medical Assistant experience
