Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and highly motivated Certified Medical Assistant / Medical Scribe to join our growing clinical team. This is a unique role that combines traditional Medical Assistant responsibilities with real-time medical scribing, allowing you to work side-by-side with providers while contributing to exceptional patient care and accurate clinical documentation.

In this role, you will assist with direct patient care, perform clinical procedures, and document provider-patient encounters using our electronic medical record (EMR) system. You will also have the opportunity to cross-train across multiple specialty departments, including Orthopedics, Pain Management, Trauma, and Sports Medicine, expanding both your clinical knowledge and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

Medical Assistant Duties

  • Room and prepare new and established patients for provider visits.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, medical history, medications, allergies, and chief complaints.
  • Assist providers during examinations and minor in-office procedures.
  • Perform clinical duties within the scope of practice.
  • Prepare and maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked exam rooms.
  • Ensure provider orders (medications, imaging, physical therapy, referrals, labs, etc.) are accurate and communicated to patients.
  • Maintain accurate patient records while following HIPAA guidelines.
  • Provide excellent patient care while maintaining professionalism and efficiency.

Medical Scribe Duties

  • Document provider-patient encounters in real time using the electronic medical record (EMR/EHR).
  • Accurately record patient histories, physical exams, assessments, treatment plans, and procedures.
  • Enter diagnoses, orders, and clinical documentation for provider review.
  • Ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and completed in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with providers to maintain efficient patient flow.
  • Communicate with providers to clarify documentation when needed.

Qualifications

  • Current National Medical Assistant Certification required (AAMA, NCCT, NHA, AMT, NRMCA, or equivalent).
  • Certificates of graduation from a Medical Assistant program do not meet this requirement.
  • Minimum one (1) year of Medical Assistant experience preferred.
  • Previous Medical Scribe experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with EMR/EHR systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, CPT, and ICD-10 coding.
  • Strong computer and typing skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional communication and teamwork skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to satellite offices as needed.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and sit throughout an 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to perform repetitive computer work and documentation.
  • Ability to lift and move clinical supplies as needed.
