Avila Law is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support our growing Intellectual Property practice and litigation team. Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage client intake, engagement letters, conflict checks, and matter opening.
- Prepare legal correspondence, notices, proposed orders, and routine pleadings.
- File documents through CM/ECF, the Florida E-Portal, and CourtMap.
- Track court deadlines, docket activity, and case developments.
- Coordinate hearings, mediations, depositions, and related logistics.
- Maintain organized electronic case files and matter records.
- Assist with discovery, records management, subpoenas, and service of process.
- Prepare hearing notebooks, trial binders, exhibits, and witness materials.
- Communicate with clients, courts, opposing counsel, vendors, and third parties.
- Manage attorney calendars and help ensure all deadlines and obligations are met.
- Assist attorneys with time entries and client billing
Qualifications
- 3 years of legal assistant, litigation assistant, or paralegal experience.
- Experience with Florida state court and/or federal court filing procedures.
- Strong litigation calendaring and deadline management skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Intellectual Property matters, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
- Familiarity with Clio, CourtMap, PACER, NetDocuments, and the Florida E-Portal.
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent legal experience.
