REPORTS TO: Lead Simulation Systems Tech/Site Manager
DIRECTLY SUPERVISES: None
Position Purpose: The Simulation Systems Technician I performs entry-level maintenance, operational checks, and support functions for the C-5 Aircrew Training System (ATS). Work is performed under direct supervision following established procedures, technical manuals, and site practices. This position provides foundational support to senior technicians and contributes to maintaining device availability and reliability. The Technician I role is developmental and prepares the employee for progression to Simulation Systems Technician II.
Essential Functions of the Position: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required for a Simulation Systems Technician I. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Performs routine and basic preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with approved technical documentation.
- Assists Simulation Systems Technicians II/III with troubleshooting, fault isolation, and corrective actions on simulator hardware, software, electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components.
- Conducts system startups, shutdowns, and functional checks as directed.
- Assists with the installation, verification, and documentation of approved software loads, updates, and configuration changes.
- Completes required maintenance entries, discrepancy reports, and related documentation in accordance with program standards.
- Supports device operational availability during training events, responding to instructor or aircrew-reported issues as directed.
- Helps maintain shop areas, tools, and support equipment in a safe and serviceable condition.
- Follows all safety, security, and quality control policies and procedures.
- Performs additional duties as assigned in support of site operations and training device readiness.

Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
The following are the requisite education and/or experience required to qualify for the position as a Simulation Systems Technician I.
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Basic understanding of electronics, mechanical systems, or computer hardware/software.
· Ability to read and follow technical procedures, schematics, and system documentation.
· Ability to communicate effectively and work within a team environment.
· Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance (if applicable).
· Preferred Requirements
· Technical training or coursework in electronics, IT, avionics, mechanical systems, or related fields.
· One year of relevant experience in a technical maintenance environment (military, vocational, or industry).
· Familiarity with simulators, training devices, or aviation maintenance practices.
· Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
