Job Summary:


The Inventory Management Specialist is responsible for planning, monitoring, and controlling inventory to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations while maintaining inventory accuracy and regulatory compliance. This role serves as the primary liaison between Production, Warehouse, Procurement, Planning, and Quality to ensure materials are available when needed, inventory transactions are accurate, and material-related risks are proactively identified and mitigated.

The Inventory Management Specialist manages ERP transactions, establishes inventory controls, conducts cycle counts to monitor and maintain inventory levels, replenishes stock as needed and performs high level of internal customer service.

Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure uninterrupted support of manufacturing operations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory balances through routine inventory verification and reconciliation.
  • Review inventory transactions to ensure compliance with established inventory control procedures.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy and investigate discrepancies.
  • Coordinate and support cycle count programs and physical inventories.
  • Identify slow-moving, excess, obsolete, and expired materials and provide insight to manager for awareness.
  • Recommend inventory optimization strategies to minimize waste while maintaining production readiness.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate inventory safety-stock levels.
  • Coordinate material availability to support the production schedule with procurement.
  • Review production demand and communicate material shortages proactively.
  • Collaborate with Production Planning and Procurement to ensure timely material replenishment.
  • Monitor material consumption against established standards.
  • Assist with new product introductions by evaluating material requirements and inventory impacts.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records within the JDE ERP system, run JDE available reports to monitor and ensure accuracy.
  • Review inventory transactions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Investigate inventory adjustments and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure material master data remains accurate and current.
  • Support JDE ERP process improvements related to inventory management.
  • Support internal, customer and regulatory audits, tours or impromptu visits.

Job Requirements

Education

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pharmaceutical or other regulated manufacturing environments required.
  • 1-2 years of experience managing or planning materials/ inventory.
  • Experience with ERP, inventory controls and supporting Manufacturing Operations.

 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of cGMP requirements, GDP practices, SOP compliance, and pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.
  • Understanding of FDA, DEA, OSHA, and hazardous material handling requirements.
  • Ability to read, understand, and write in English.
  • Strong mathematical skills include percentages, ratios, decimals, and yield calculations.
  • High organizational and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of accuracy and compliance.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with electronic manufacturing systems preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.
  • Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, and move materials or equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular exposure to manufacturing equipment, moving mechanical parts, solvents, airborne particles, potent compounds, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to work and support the production schedules, to work overtime, weekends, holidays, or alternate shifts as operationally required.
