Subcontract Administrator – Melbourne, FL
Pay: $50–$76/hr
Contract: 6-month contract with potential to convert or extend
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a Subcontract Administrator for a leading aerospace company building the next generation of reusable launch vehicles and expanding its operational infrastructure. This is a strong opportunity for someone with experience in high-value construction contract management and negotiation looking to further their career in aerospace facilities development.
- Lead the full lifecycle of complex construction subcontracts — from strategy development and negotiation through administration and closeout — for major infrastructure and facility expansion programs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for major construction subcontractors, managing relationships, resolving contractual disputes, and driving corrective action processes as needed.
- Analyze contract risks and develop mitigation strategies; review and approve change orders, modifications, and amendments to protect company interests.
- Provide expert guidance to engineering, finance, and project management teams on subcontract terms, interpretation, and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Lead dispute resolution and support claim negotiations, coordinating closely with Legal and Finance stakeholders throughout the process.
- Develop and implement standard processes and best practices for construction subcontract management across the organization.
- Mentor junior contract administrators, building team capability and ensuring consistent application of contracting standards.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Contract Management, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 8 years of progressive contract management experience, including at least 5 years focused on construction subcontracts.
- Demonstrated expertise managing high-value construction agreements exceeding $10M, including negotiation, administration, and change order management.
- Strong knowledge of construction industry standards, practices, and contract law, including risk assessment and mitigation.
- Proven negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills with both internal stakeholders and external contractors.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills; strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or other high-tech industrial environments.
- Knowledge of FAR/DFAR requirements as they apply to construction contracts; experience with government contracting procedures.
- Familiarity with design-build and alternative project delivery methods; proficiency with construction project management software or ERP systems.
