Position Summary:
We are seeking a driven, hands-on Process Engineer to support a manufacturing facility focused on welding, metal fabrication, and machining. This role is highly floor-focused and centered on improving efficiency, optimizing processes, and driving measurable results in a fast-paced production environment.
Role Overview:
- Floor-focused engineer driving efficiency improvements
- Lean-oriented (not a purely Lean role)
- Works alongside a Lean resource focused on broader, multi-site initiatives
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and execute floor-level efficiency improvements
- Conduct time studies, waste reduction, and material flow improvements
- Implement 5S, standard work, and setup reduction
- Lead layout changes and line rearrangement
- Evaluate and improve overall production flow
- Troubleshoot process issues and implement corrective actions
- Develop and maintain work instructions and process documentation
- Support new product launches and process validation
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives
Ideal Background:
- Lean / continuous improvement mindset
- Strong shop floor presence (hands-on, not desk-focused)
- Experience in manufacturing (metal preferred: welding, machining, sheet metal, metallurgy)
- Open to other industries (e.g., plastics) with transferable skills
- Proven ability to identify problems and drive change
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
- 2 years of manufacturing experience
- Knowledge of production processes and optimization
- Ability to read technical drawings
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred:
- Experience with robotic welding or CNC machining
- Six Sigma certification
- Familiarity with ERP systems
